You can easily spot ants in the garden when aphids are tiny and sometimes hard to spot. You can use coffee grounds chili powder cinnamon peppermint or black pepper. Ants will not cross chalk lines according to golden harvest organics. All deter ants and if you pour coffee grounds directly on an anthill they will eat the coffee grounds and implode.

If you don t have chalk buy ground cinnamon cayenne pepper curry powder or baby powder and use them the same way. Crush up some chalk. Ants also help to speed decomposition of organic matter such as leaves straw and even other dead insects. A 50 50 mixture of borax and sugar will help to control ants.

Ants will readily take the mixture back to the next and share it with others. Sugar is what the ants are after and they wont be able to tell it has been mixed with borax. Baking soda is poisonous to ants spinkle it around your plants to ensure ants will stay away. There are lots of organic garden pest control deterrent for ants but keep applying and changing them because they are determined little blighters indeed.

Borax is poisonous to ants and pretty soon the ant colony will be no more. Reapply as needed or after a rain. Sprinkle the chalk in a line around your plants or around the perimeter of your garden to keep ants away.
